The Light of the Renaissance
From Sept. 26, 2025 to Jan. 25, 2026, the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi, and the Museo di San Marco present Angelico, an extraordinary exhibition dedicated to Fra Giovanni da Fiesole, better known as Beato Angelico. The artist and Dominican friar, an icon of 15th-century Florentine art, is famous for his pictorial language. Starting from the Gothic heritage, he enthusiastically took on the new principles of Renaissance art then emerging in Florence. Angelico's works that display a mastery in perspectival space and the light, are capable of creating a harmonious relationship between figuration and space. The exposition will offer a unique insight into the artist's talent, bringing out his capacity for artistic innovation in service of deep spiritual values. The exhibition itinerary curated by Carl Brandon Strehlke, will place Beato Angelico's work in dialogue with painters such as Masaccio, Filippo Lippi, and Lorenzo Monaco, as well as sculptors like Lorenzo Ghiberti, Michelozzo and Luca della Robbia.Ghiberti, Michelozzo and Luca della Robbia.
