The perfect Italian - style garden
When you visit the Boboli Gardens, you are walking one of the world’s most fascinating examples of Italian-style garden. It could be also described as an open-air museum. You will see ancient sculptures and fountains, long tree-lined paths and a number of interesting constructions, such as two half-sunk icehouses with domed roof, designed to keep ice frozen throughout the year. Ice was brought daily from the Abetone mountains and used to preserve the foods enjoyed at the Grand Dukes’ table. This is only one of the many stories well-worth learning about in this wonderful garden.
