Galleria Continua - International artists in San Gimignano

Galleria Continua was first established in 1990 in San Gimignano. At that time no one would have thought that, by being in such an unexpected location and far from the big urban centers of Tuscany, the gallery could ever become an international center of contemporary art. San Gimignano is a medieval village, seemingly unchanged since it was first established and still enveloped in its rich history. Yet tucked away in a previously abandoned cinema which has now been restored to life, Galleria Continua allows the greatest contemporary artists to meet. This contrast between old and new which the gallery embodies has been followed by many others - the rural and the industrial, the local and the global, the art of the past and that of the present, famous artists and emerging artists – and Galleria Continua has come to represent the possibility of enjoying art in the heart of Tuscany.
