Horne Museum

Living in the Renaissance era. This was the dream that, in the early 1900s, drove the British Herbert Percy Horne to Florence to purchase the historic building at the corner of Via de’ Benci and Corso dei Tintori. A rich art collector and critic, perhaps a bit extravagant, definitely very romantic. After three years of extensive renovation works, the building was restored to its original late-fifteenth century construction: a perfect example of Renaissance style. In this house, Horne displayed his precious art collection, including works by Giotto, Giambologna, Masaccio, Filippo Lippi and Simone Martini. When Horne died, the impressive collection was passed on to the city of Florence. A small, not-to-miss gem.
