Art and Life

The Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi celebrates with a major exhibition, British artist Tracey Emin, known for her expressive language of strong emotional and social impact. Emin currently lives and works between London, the South of France and Margate, UK. Her art,  deeply inspired by her intimate experiences, tells the story of her pain, her beliefs, and her passions. explores universal themes such as love,  desire, loss, and grief, using drawing, painting, sculpture, and a variety of innovative techniques. With a disarming and unfiltered approach, her works address the human dimension in a raw and irreverent way, placing the body and relationships at the center of the visual narrative. “The most beautiful thing is honesty, even if it is very painful to look at,” says the artist, summarizing her poetics.

Curated by Arturo Galansino, the exhibition at Palazzo Strozzi will be her first ever held in an Italian institution. A careful selection of historical and recent works, from public and private collections around the world, will convey the controversial and lacerating aesthetics that have redefined the relationship between body, existence, and femininity in contemporary art over the past three decades.
