A new vision

An expert in Florentine art and the first non-Italian to run the Uffizi Gallery, his appointment as general director in 2015 marked a turning point in the history of the Florentine museum. His vision is based on the idea of sharing contemporary culture and languages. The Uffizi Gallery and Palazzo Pitti have now returned to be an artistic epicenter of international standing. Among the new initiatives, the Costume Museum becomes the Fashion Museum, to highlight the deeply-rooted connection between Florence and high fashion, dating back to the year 1952, when the first fashion show of all times was held at Palazzo Pitti.
